About 29 years ago a newlywed couple bought a farm in central Kentucky with a dream to raise Appaloosa horses and a family in the quiet hills of the bluegrass. Now on the other side of the clouds with two grown daughters and a working horse operation Just A Whittle Farm is on the trails and in the show ring!
All the credit easily goes to one person, since without her passion for horses and do-it-yourself attitude this farm might not even exist. Annette Whittle (commonly known as Mom Annette) has been a horsewoman for several years and is well known in the Appaloosa industry as a woman that did not take no for an answer. Through several years of working to build her own fence and barn as a young child with the help of her father she acquired one of her first Appaloosas (Redskin Babe) and has many a fond memories of her learning years as a horse owner. From there she pushed Babe to be the ultimate all around horse riding her in hunter hack, reining, horsemanship, equitation, hunter under saddle and trail. This only fueled her fire and passion for the Appaloosa breed.
Annette has raised two daughters with her husband Mitch, both heavily involved in the horse industry and successful in the show pen. They both agree that when it comes to their involvement with horses, that without their mother by their side supporting them and their father routing them on at the rail they would not be as successful as they are today.
Now Just a Whittle Farm has entered into a new phase in its life time and bred and foaled it's first full blooded Quarter Horse foal on May 3rd, 2013. With this journey of raising a reining prospect we will continue to keep you updated on Hank's growth and interesting findings as he develops and explores his new world.
